Sunday, August 27, 1769: "...we came to the low, bare point of land which it is conjectured is Point Conception." Note Crespi's own hedge ("conjectured") -- this is his contemporaneous best guess at the landmark's identity, not a modern editorial footnote, so slightly less certain than the others in this batch, but it is his own words and Point Conception is a well-known, unambiguous landmark.
