"The Abbe Robin, a Catholic priest with the French army, reported that during this encampment he said the first Catholic Mass in the state of Connecticut on Sunday, June 24, 1781. The first mass may have actually been celebrated earlier with Lauzun’s troops in Lebanon, or even earlier with the French conversion of American Indians."
