First recorded Mass in what would become NYC was on October 30, 1683, and it is attributed it to one of the three English Jesuits invited by Gov. Thomas Dongan (Frs. Harvey, Harrison, and Gage, S.J.). Same article says the mass likely occurred at what was (at time of publication) the Custom House, which in 1913 would have been the Alexander Custom House on 1 Bowling Green, Manhattan
