First mass in Tom Green county. Celebrated at the request of the Jumano Indians who reported mystical encounters with the "Lady in Blue." "According to the earliest recorded happenings in this part of the West, the first Christian service in the area was a Mass celebrated near the confluence of the Concho River in 1629."
