Notes

Before this milestone, the few Catholics scattered in the frontier village of Dallas had to travel hundreds of miles to Nacogdoches or Galveston to receive the sacraments. Father Augagneur traveled roughly 150 miles on horseback from his post in Nacogdoches to reach the village. Outside of the priest and the Guillot family, only two other local Catholics attended the historic service. This home circle laid the groundwork for the eventual establishment of the city's first formal parish (Sacred Heart) in 1872. Put the pin at 5500 Swiss Ave, Dallas, TX 75214
